Joe Delaney and his legacy 25 years later

Joe Delaney was a second-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs out of Northwestern State. After rushing for 1121 yards, he was named the AFC Rookie of the Year in 1981 by United Press International. His second season was hampered by the NFL strike and an eye injury. And then the summer before his third season, he died attempting to rescue three youths from a pond in Louisiana. Delaney died as well as two of the three children. The Kansas City Star catches up one the lone survivor, LeMarkits Holland, who is now 34 years old. The Chiefs have unofficially retired his number 37 and is in the team's Ring of Honor.
