Stats geek are changing the games

Statisticians are changing the game. The Columbus Dispatch runs a story about how teams -- in the case of this particular story, it's baseball teams, but I am sure NFL teams are doing the same -- are hiring statisticians. Here's a short example from the story: "Perhaps most telling is the fact that three men who contributed articles to the (Baseball Prospectus) site now work full time for big-league clubs: James Click, hired by Tampa Bay two years ago in the baseball operations department; (Keith) Woolner, hired by the Indians last year to the newly created position of manager of baseball research and analysis; and Dan Fox, hired by the Pirates this season to create and manage a statistical database."
