World's oldest blogger dies at 108
Olive Riley died last weekend at 108 years old in an Australian nursing home. Never heard of her? She was a pioneer in what you are reading right now. Blogging. Her site called "The Life of Riley" experienced technical difficulties due to the overwhelming amount of hits it incurred upon the news of her death. Right now you can see a temporary blog of her's at http://worldsoldestblogger.blogspot.com/
Born in 1899, she blogged up until the final two weeks of her life. According to the Independent, in her final blog she wrote: "I still feel weak, and can't shake off that bad cough." Her great-grandson was quoted by the Independent saying: "She enjoyed the fame – it kept her mind fresh. She had people communicating with her from as far away as Russia and America. What kept her going was the memories she had."
ABC News has an audio interview with Mike Rubbo, a documentary filmmaker who produce a film on the life and times of Riley.
Here Riley is singing "Waltzing Matilda," which is seen as Australia's unofficial national anthem.
