You gotta love
Norm Clarke of the Las Vegas Review Journal. Over the weekend he had the
O.J. Simpson acquittal party cancellation. And now this: the legendary
John Wayne Bobbitt -- who, uh, had his, uh, you-know-what trimmed off by his wife, Lorena, while using a kitchen knife on the night of June 23, 1993 -- will be fighting in a celebrity boxing match in November.
Clarke, the best gossiper in the business,
wrote on Monday:
Bobbitt, 41, is training for a Nov. 15 celebrity boxing match in Philadelphia against Greg Smith, the barber who made news in May when he knocked out rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight during a street altercation in Hollywood.
Bobbitt was scheduled to fight Joey Buttafuoco in a televised celebrity match several years ago, but the event fell apart. Earlier this year, Bobbitt agreed to slug it out with former baseball star Jose Canseco, but the promoter switched to former NFL player and BYU standout Vai Sikahema, who pounded the beefier Canseco into carpaccio.
And for those of you too young at the time of the incident between Bobbitt and his wife, the doctors were successful in their efforts in reattachment. Of course, success may be in the eye of the beholder. For those who don't remember, let's just say it was a
bloody mess.
With the sad state of boxing, and with the emergence of mixed martial arts fighting, this may enter into the top five bouts of the year. In fact, for those who haven't followed boxing in years, this may be the only bout they watch this year.
Hope John Wayne Bobbitt has a good cut man in his corner.
And if that wasn't enough, in the same gossip column, Clarke quotes actor Tony Curtis from his new book ("American Prince: A Memoir") as writing: "I hated Hitler. As a Jewish kid in New York, I threw condom bombs on pro-Nazi parades."
By the way, in the Jose Canseco-Vai Sikahema bout this past summer, Sikahema pounded Canseco to earn the win.

If Bobbitt is playing in an arena, wouldn't they make that a PayPerView and cash in?
